The Idea Garden

OK, I knew a guy who once knew a guy, who worked for the next door neighbor of the guy who invented the internet. So I feel that I have an inside track on this technology thing.

We are planting a garden here. I am encouraging friends and strangers alike to check in, add your wisdom and contribute to the Idea Garden.

We are looking for Martha Stewart type tips, We are looking for the Killer Tomato story, we are looking for healthy alternatives to the junk that we as a nation consume. We are looking for cures, and anecdotes and Grand Ma's pickling recipe. We are looking for things that feed the spirit and the belly. I know that many of you have it in you.

Yes we are busy. Yes we have the 5 second mentality with all things internet, but this is a project that will grow on you. As I had mentioned, I will be posting the articles that I write for the Wausau Daily Herald as they are published, but that is only part of the story. You make up the rest.

So bust loose with the good stuff. Be a blessing to others and share your goodies.

Want a great Kahlua turkey recipe? - "It's da kine bra"!
Stay tuned -

Aloha,

Motor

This came from my friend Kelly in Ohio....

Tips like this????

Stevia (Asian Herb) VS sweeteners....hard to grow at first but will last forever if you tend it...compact leaves are EXTRA sweet. One leaves (dime size) = 5 t sugar OR 3 pkgs of the white death in the pink/blue/yellow "pretty" colors on your table!

Borage: annual, easy to grow, high in C and flowers are edible...purple stars (3 = 1/2 orange)...freeze in ice cubes for child's beverage, toss on salad, add to stir fry!

Pick "bad" bugs from garden and smash into paste, add to Cayenne tea (peppers in a nylon hose soaking in water) and spray back on plants. Keeps the live ones at bay...mess' with the pheromone level senors.

xox More later!!!! :)

PESTO RECIPE -

OK, here is a great use for the bumper crop of basil in your garden.

3 cups packed fresh basil torn into pieces

1/4 cup pine nuts

2 garlic cloves - (if you are a sissy) more for more gusto

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 tsp Sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.

Puree basil, nuts, garlic and 1/2 teaspoon sea salt in a food processor. Slowly add olive oil and process until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate.

Now lets make a Pesto chicken pizza!
